This has been a more clear, thorough, supportive and professional experience than we could possibly have hoped for. Dr Suckle’s expertise is abundantly apparent - her approachability on top of this is an invaluable bonus!

What happens during an assessment ?

You might make contact for an assessment because you have been referred by your school or someone has mentioned dyslexia or ADHD and you want to find out more. The first step is always to find out whether an assessment is appropriate for you. Please either fill in the callback form or reach out to me via email to set up a time to discuss this. If we decide that an assessment is appropriate we will then book in a date to meet.

For dyslexia, an assessment involves the completion of a range of standardised tests in accordance with current SASC (SpLD assessment standards committee) guidance. These tests will establish underlying ability, investigate phonological processing, and working memory, as well as explore reading, spelling, and writing in detail. Completing these tests usually takes around 3 hrs.

If there is evidence suggestive of ADHD, an additional interview is booked in on a separate day. This interview takes around 2 hrs. Please note that as an SpLD assessor I can put educational recommendations in place for ADHD but can’t provide a clinical diagnosis.

After the assessment, a full diagnostic assessment report will be written up. Once you have had a chance to read this, I offer a further feedback meeting over Google Meet to go over any questions and talk about support strategies that you may find helpful.

Assessment costs:

The cost of a full diagnostic assessment is £440. A deposit of £100 is required at the time of booking and the remainder is payable at least one week before the assessment.

The full report will be sent out within 2 weeks of the assessment with the option of booking a feedback session at no additional cost.

Elsa was very approachable and supportive throughout the process. Information was always promptly given, communication from Elsa was fantastic and we are really happy with the service provided.
